Introduction

 
Vietnam Forestry University (VFU) was founded by the Council of Government Decision N0 127/CP dated August 19th, 1964 upon the separation of the Faculty of Silviculture and Forestry Mechanization Unit from Hanoi Agriculture and Forestry University.
* From 1964 to 1984, the University had initially been located in Dungaree District, QuangNinh Province. 
* In 1984, VFU moved to Xuanmai town, Chuongmy district, Hanoi capital.
Vietnam Forestry University is administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in one hand and managed by the Ministry of Education and Training in terms of educational and professional quality, in the other hand.
* VFU has been recognized as a leading University-level forestry educational institution in Vietnam.
Vietnam Forestry University has the following functions:
* Training of undergraduate and postgraduate personnel in the areas of forestry and rural development.
* Undertaking research and technological transfer in forestry and rural development.

2. Training systems:

- Regular full time  4 years course

- In service part time 4.5 years course

- Shortened full time 2.5 years course

- Designed (special 4 years) course for ethnic students        

* Training of undergraduate and postgraduate personnel in the areas of forestry and rural development.
* Undertaking research and technological transfer in forestry and rural development.
